In order to be able to tell what year your knife was made you will first need to locate the Case Co. stamp. The stamp will be located on the Tang of the front side of the master blade. Once you have done this you need to refer to the Case Stampings below. The stampings and information below will help you to date your knife up to 1999. In 2000 Case Co. again changed the stamp for dating their knives. I do not have an illustration of the stamp that is being used from 2000 to present. As soon as I do, I will put it up. In the meantime, I will have to describe the 2000 to present dating stamp as well as I can. In 2000 Case began with the CaseLongTailCxx in the center of the Tang with 2 X's above and 3 X's below the CaseLongTailCxx. In 2000 there were 3 dots above ( .x.x. ) and 2 dots below ( x.x.x ) then for each year after a dot was removed. For example, if you have a stamp that has 3 dots i.e. ( x.x ) above and ( x.x.x ) below you would have a 2002 year knife. Case Numbering System
First digit denotes the handle material. Second digit tells the number of blades. Last two digits are the factory pattern numbers. An “0” at the first or the third digit indicates a variation in that particular knife; for example, 06263S.S. or 62048SP.
